Iwould like to praise the Falmouth Enterprise for its editorial, “Elected Officials Must Do More to Stop ICE Raids,” in the May 30 edition of the paper. The piece is timely and accurately summarizes the frightening situation that we, on Cape Cod, are facing.

We are hearing reports of masked ICE agents confronting individuals with no warning, warrants or due process, handcuffing and stuffing them into cars to be whisked away to unknown locations. I, too, have to ask myself how, in our civilized nation, in which we pride ourselves on our high levels of education, culture and socio-economic advancement, our elected officials are not speaking out more forcefully against this government-sanctioned thuggery and disappearing of people.
