For more than 80 years, senior centers have provided access to support services and opportunities for healthy aging in a highly social setting in towns and neighborhoods across the nation.
In the establishment of the Aging Network in 1973, senior centers were to be given special consideration as focal points to deliver services on a local level. Today, an estimated 11,000 senior centers operate as gathering places for generations of older adults to “stay active, healthy and connected,” per the National Council on Aging (NCOA).
Like the main theme of NCOA, our own Trumbull County Senior Services Levy theme is “Keeping our seniors safe, healthy and mobile.” Our senior centers are mostly funded by the county levy, with the rest of the revenues coming from host communities, donations and fun
