ST. LOUIS — Five cheetah cubs were born at the St. Louis Zoo on May 5. They were the first successful cheetah births at the zoo in more than seven years.
The zoo made the happy announcement Monday, one month after the cubs were born.
The cubs are growing and bonding with their mother in a private maternity den away from the public. The zoo's Animal Care team is keeping a watch on them by camera. Veterinarians will not conduct their first well-baby check on them for some weeks.
The vets will determine the cubs' sex, and only then will they be named, zoo officials said.
The cubs will not be brought out to see the public for several months, the same time that cubs in the wild naturally leave the den with their mother.
This is the first litter for the parents, Cora and Vader. Cora, 4, cam
