With the pride parade in Belleville coming up on Saturday, Quinte News spoke to Bay of Quinte Pride Co-Chair ViQtoria Jourdrey about the upcoming event.

Jourdrey said the group decided on the theme of unity to emphasize community ties, and fight recent division.

“We had a couple ideas, and as soon as we said community, with emphasis on unity, everyone just started like adding ideas to that,” said Jourdrey. “It took off and running. It just seemed like the perfect time.”

The pride parade in Belleville will be starting at noon from their staging area at Jim’s Pizzeria on Front Street, before heading south and proceeding to West Zwick’s Park. From there, Pride in the Park will be running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with family-friendly fun and entertainment.
