A woman who was thrown on to a railway track is to get £2,000 compensation from her attacker.

The terrifying incident at Shotts station happened seconds before an announcement that a train was approaching. ‌

Darren Godfrey, 32, of Dyfrig Street, Shotts, narrowly avoided a jail sentence at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week. ‌

As well as ordering him to pay the victim compensation, Sheriff Colin Dunipace said he must carry out 300 hours of unpaid work.
