Charleston welcomed 16 high school baseball teams from across West Virginia this week for the WVSSAC state tournament, with one common goal in mind -- winning a state championship.

It's different this year, with a fourth class and its accompanying four teams being added to the field. And the format will again change next year, doubling in size to 32 teams.

The change was announced last month by the WVSSAC. Eight teams from each of four classes will compete for a state title. The current setup has four teams from four classes.
