The Virginia Commonwealth University Health System Authority is looking to build a hospital off Route 10 in Chesterfield.
VCU Health sent a letter to the Virginia Department of Health on Monday indicating its intent to submit a certificate of public need application.
The acute care hospital would be located at 7220 Beach Road on 56 acres.
According to the letter, the hospital is planned for 66 total beds: 42 adult medical-surgical beds, 12 intensive care unit beds, six pediatric beds and six obstetric beds.
General and intermediate-level nursery services for newborns would be provided at the hospital.
Other features include six operating rooms, one cardiac catheterization laboratory, one CT scan unit and one MRI unit.
The proposed hospital site is located next to VCU Health’s $90
