Hola, everyone! Welcome back to my Woof column, and guess what: Summer is here! For many of us, that means more time outside, travel plans and fun celebrations. But for our pets, the heat and noise can sometimes be overwhelming or even dangerous. In this Woof column, I will go over some easy ways to keep your dogs and cats safe, healthy and comfortable during the warmest time of the year.

Dogs and cats can overheat quickly, especially during the hottest part of the day. If you like to take your dog on walks, try going early in the morning or after the sun goes down. Always check the temperature of the ground with your hand: If it is too hot to touch for several seconds, it is too hot for your dog’s paws.

Some pets may benefit from wearing protective shoes, but not all dogs enjoy them. Yo
