LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — With the school year just wrapping up, Lincoln Public Schools is now staffing up for the next one.

Its goal is to fill 85 new positions before the next school year begins.

LPS is hosting its first job fair of the summer on Friday to address these positions needed.

The district said it needs paraeducators, bus drivers, food service workers, transportation paras and custodians.

According to a hiring specialist with LPS, each of those positions will be getting an increase in pay, and the paraeducators will be getting nearly a 10% bump.

“Paras got a substantial increase in pay, which is appreciated and is welcomed, I would say, the type of work that those individuals do,” Genelle Moore said. “But everyone is going to get somewhat of a pay raise.”
