EVANSVILLE — This month there are multiple opportunities to celebrate Juneteenth , the nationally recognized commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.

Evansville, and nearby towns, will host multiple events before, during and after, June 19, the official Juneteenth date.

Here are some chances to celebrate, and learn more about the historic day.

Saturday, June 7

Bayard Park Juneteenth Celebration

This year's 6th Annual Evansville Cultural Experience - Juneteenth Celebration is set for noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at Bayard Park.

This event is free and open to the public.
