Braden Buckley can finally take a break.
The Merrill senior finished his high school athletic career Wednesday in a Division 4 regional semifinal loss to Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart.
Buckley, a pitcher and shortstop, capped a career that included starring roles in football, basketball and baseball.
“The kid is just a pure athlete,” Merrill baseball coach Dave DeBeau said. “He grew up that way. He played everything from quarterback on football team to scoring over 1,000 points in basketball to starting four years in baseball.”
Buckley also earned the MLive Saginaw Athlete of the Week honor with more than 4,900 votes after helping the Vandals claim a Division 4 baseball district title.
