SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Today is a First Alert Weather Day as we are expecting to see more chances for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Western Mass today from noon to midnight.

Our window of opportunity for storms to develop is between 12pm and 8pm. A few storms may be strong to severe. The storm prediction center places Western mass under a slight risk for severe weather, a 2 out of 5 on the scale.

Our main concerns would be isolated flooding due to heavy rain and isolated wind damage from gusty winds.

Activity begins to wind down by around 8pm with a few light lingering showers.

Overnight, we’ll be overcast with an isolated shower, some patchy fog and lows remain mild, getting down into the 60’s.
