HUNTINGTON — One church in Nitro wants the property of the now-former Meadows Elementary School in Huntington.

Members of Kingdom Life Fellowship Church, 405 First Ave. S. in Nitro, have shown up to two Cabell County Board of Education meetings to request the property at 1601 Washington Blvd. in Huntington.

The new Meadows Elementary School should be completed over the summer, as students are expected to start the 2025-26 school year in the new building, located at 1 Wildcat Way, according to Deputy Superintendent Justin Boggs.

As the building on Washington Boulevard becomes vacant, Kingdom Life Fellowship Church wants to use it to expand their food giveaway services, provide day care, tutoring, job opportunities and activities for children.
