MUSKEGON, Mich. — Friday marks the 81st anniversary of D-Day, the launch of a seaborne invasion of Nazi-occupied France that turned the tide of war during World War II.
A US warship that shuttled troops onto the beach during the invasion of Normandy back in 1944 will be host to two days of events starting Friday, June 6, to commemorate the bravery of those men.
The LST 393, which now lives in Muskegon as a museum, will first host a Friday-evening meet-and-greet with WWII war reenactors and WWII-era vehicles on display.
"Band of Brothers" will be screened for free on Friday at 8 p.m. inside the ship's tank deck. Visitors should bring their own seating.
Then on Saturday, more events are on tap. From an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., thanks to the Northside Lions Club, Medal
