JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 said the rock mitigation project on KY 321 is progressing well.

KYTC said the project began in April to reduce the risk of future rockfalls ahead of freeze-thaw cycles.

Officials said contractor GSI completed the slope stabilization and installation of rockfall barriers.

Today crews begin clearing the roadway, repairing the shoulders and completing the earthwork for safe travel.

KYTC asks drivers to be aware of crews and equipment as they enter the cleanup phase.

Unless the work is postponed due to weather, KY 321 will reopen today.
