(WSET) — Friday marks the 81st anniversary of the storming of Normandy, also known as D-Day.
The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford is a tribute to the soldiers lost during that mission.
On Friday, Virginia military officials and Governor Youngkin will speak at a ceremony at the memorial.

Special guests include World War two veterans.
The event is free to the public with gates opening at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony starts at 11 a.m.
