Angel Martinez hit a two-run homer in the first inning to back 5 2/3 stellar innings from Luis L. Ortiz as the visiting Cleveland Guardians earned a 4-0 victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday night.

The Guardians won for only the third time in their past 11 regular-season visits to New York thanks to the duo of Martinez and Ortiz.

Martinez entered the game in a 6-for-40 skid but gave Cleveland a 2-0 lead. Following a walk to Steven Kwan, he got a first-pitch cutter and hammered it into the right field bleachers.

Jose Ramirez doubled after Martinez went deep to extend his on-base streak to 30 games and scored on a two-out double by Daniel Schneemann.
