NEW ORLEANS — The on Friday with a full day of events honoring the Allied invasion that changed the course of World War II.
On June 6, 1944, more than 150,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, in a massive military operation that marked the beginning of the liberation of Nazi-occupied Europe. The invasion, known as D-Day, became a turning point in the war.
The will host ceremonies, educational programs, and exhibits to honor the service members who participated in the historic operation.
