LEE COUNTY, Iowa (WGEM) - Several months ago, Lee County officials removed the speed check cameras along Highway 27.
However, residents are still receiving notices for unpaid tickets from when they were in operation.
Over the past few months, the notices have been sent out with the original one providing the drivers with an opportunity to appeal the ticket. That process has now been closed and drivers must pay the fines.
A lot of confusion was spurred recently due to an extra notice being sent out, but officials said that was meant as a test, but it led to many people paying the fines.
Officials are urging that if you have an unpaid fine to take care of it as soon as possible because it’ll be better for your pockets in the long run.
