Showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder will be possible Friday, kicking off the first of multiple chances of rain for the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Storms were moving across southern Missouri into the Ozarks early Friday, the weather service said.

“A decent amount of cloud cover should linger through much of the day today, and with us being on the north side of the boundary, another day of slightly below normal temperatures is likely with highs in the mid to upper 70s,” the weather service said.

Temperatures in the metro are expected to climb to around 78 degrees, slightly below the average of 82 degrees for this time of year.
