The wait is over, Bruins fans.

Nearly two months after dropping the regular-season finale to the Devils, the organization finally has a new head coach, and it is familiar name for longtime followers of the Spoked-B.

Marco Sturm, who played five seasons with the Bruins from 2005-10, was named the club’s 30th head coach on Thursday .

Here are a few things to know about the new bench boss of the Bruins:

He arrived in Boston in one of the biggest trades in franchise history.

On Nov. 30, 2005, the Bruins shipped center Joe Thornton to the Sharks for Sturm, Brad Stuart, and Wayne Primeau. It’s safe to say the Sharks won that trade, although some have made the case that it was a win-win in the long run.
