CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A family gathered at Allatoona Lake Friday morning as crews continue to search the area where an empty boat was found circling on Thursday.

Officials have not yet explicitly confirmed if they believe if someone fell off the boat and whether their search is for a person missing off the boat.

On Friday morning, 11Alive's Karys Belger was at the lake where family members had gathered, saying it's their 17-year-old loved one at the focus of the operations. A mom told 11Alive that her son, Jackson Cole Coft from Woodstock, had just gotten the boat.
