CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau School Board is moving forward with plans to create a new school designed to help students recovering from addiction.

The district is looking to empower students in recovery through a dedicated grant-funded program.

During a special meeting Thursday night, the board all voted to approve the process to move forward with pursuing the grant.

The board will continue to work on the grant and then the next step will be to submit it for approval to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
