BAY CITY, MI – Bay City Public Schools officials announced in a statement that a handful of potential layoffs, which will be voted on Monday, June 9, are part of a district-wide effort to address a $6.7 million budget shortfall.

According to the Friday, June 6, news release, the district in December 2024 approved a budget amendment identifying a projected $6.7 million budget deficit for the current fiscal year. To address this issue, officials said, the focus has been turned toward “meeting the needs of students, sustaining district operations, and meeting the needs of staff.”
