Kathy Owad, owner of Grumpy’s Café (2621 W 14th St., 216-241-5025) in Tremont, has inked a deal to take over Bay Provisions (328 Bassett Rd.) in Bay Village. That business closed on May 31 after just a couple years in business, but the property was long home to Martin’s Deli.

Owad and daughter Kristi Mulloy have plans to transform the business from a quiet coffee and ice cream shop into a bustling neighborhood deli.

“This is not going to be another Grumpy’s,” says Owad. “We’ll still do the coffee and the ice cream but we’re going to have a lot of food to go, soups, some groceries, beer and wine… Just bring it back to a neighborhood place where people feel comfortable coming for a cup of coffee, some ice cream or stay for dinner.”
