At 5:51 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued an updated severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 6:15 p.m. for Armstrong and Butler counties.

Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

"At 5:51 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 5 miles east of Meadowood, or 5 miles east of Butler, moving east at 10 mph," according to the weather service. "Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees."

The warning is for Chicora.

According to the weather service, "Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways."
