The U.S. Department of Homeland Security included Clark County among 35 counties in Washington on its list of “sanctuary jurisdictions” that it said are “deliberately obstructing” federal immigration enforcement.
The list has since been removed from the department’s website.
In a news release last week , DHS said it was posting the list in accordance with an April 28 executive order signed by President Donald Trump that required the agency to publish the list of cities, counties and states that obstruct immigration enforcement, which it designated sanctuary jurisdictions. The order also requires the U.S. attorney general and homeland security secretary to update the list as necessary.
