GAINESVILLE — Last season, Florida sophomore Thomas Haugh evolved from an occasional spark off the bench into a force as the sixth man for a national champion.
He now looks to make another step to become a star at a new starting position.
Haugh’s switch to the wing — or the “3” in basketball lexicon — will be among the key storylines as the Gators open summer workouts Monday. The arrival of Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland and Princeton’s Xaivian Lee provides coach Todd Golden with two explosive, productive point guards — and plenty of options.
“That’s what the summer’s for,” Golden recently told the Orlando Sentinel. “We’re going to try to get creative and think of the best ways to take advantage of our guys skill sets.”
