Judge orders stepdad charged in death of 5-year-old Tallahassee girl to be held without bond

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The stepdad of a 5-year-old girl who died two weeks ago in Tallahassee appeared in court Friday, where a judge ordered him to be held without bond.

Daniel Spencer, 35, faces a second-degree murder charge after 5-year-old Missy Mogle was found unresponsive at a southeast Tallahassee home in May. The young girl was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Mogle’s 23-year-old mother, Chloe Spencer, was also charged with second-degree murder in connection to the girl’s death.

The couple was charged a week after the young girl’s death, with court records revealing that the two are accused of killing the 5-year-old by asphyxiation.
