HAMMOND — They still aren't sure how the kid got there — or who dressed him.

Master Sgt. Daniel Crook's shift as patrol supervisor May 19 started like any other, but things got hairy when a resident in the 400 block of Vine Street called the police to report a trespassing baby goat.

"There's a goat in my yard," she advised.

And she wasn't kidding around. But it wasn't just any goat.

This one was decked out in a mini tuxedo and donned a gold chain — just like any well-kept 'baaa-chelor' would.

Lake County dispatchers relayed the call to Hammond police. An officer had already arrived at the scene by the time Crook arrived. He got out of the car to meet up with his fellow officer, still unsure exactly what kind of a call he'd gotten himself into.
