DALLAS - After a disappointing loss in the Western Conference Finals, the Dallas Stars have fired head coach Pete DeBoer.

DeBoer led the Stars to a 149-68-29 record in the regular season and three consecutive Western Conference Final appearances.

In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he had a 29-27 record in 56 games.

Several Stars players expressed displeasure with DeBoer's decision to pull goalie Jake Oettinger after early struggles in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers .

The Stars say the search for a new head coach is underway.
