RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 37-year-old man has been identified as the man who was shot and killed in Richmond's Northside Thursday evening.

Detectives have identified 37-year-old Dominique Epps of Henrico County as the man who died in the 2200 block of Chamberlayne Avenue on the evening of Thursday, June 5.

Officers were called to a business just before 9:30 p.m. for a report of a person shot.

When officials arrived, they found a man down and unresponsive inside of the business, with an apparent gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

"Major Crimes detectives are investigating this incident as a possible robbery attempt by Epps, with an exchange of gunfire with an employee," Richmond Police said.
