NEW YORK — Shane Bieber has developed soreness in his surgically repaired right elbow and will not make his scheduled rehab start on Friday for Double-A Akron.

Manager Stephen Vogt made that announcement before the Guardians played the Yankees on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium.

Vogt said Bieber developed soreness in his right elbow after throwing a bullpen session on Tuesday.

“He will consult with Dr. (Keith) Meister,” said Vogt. “He has already been examined by our team doctors.”
