FLINT, MI ― The city is making plans to assist about a dozen Flint Genesee Job Corps students after the U.S. Department of Labor halted contracts to operate their center and others across the country.

The Flint City Council delayed action on an emergency request for $25,000 from Mayor Sheldon Neeley during a special meeting on Wednesday, June 4, the same day a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration must restore hundreds of millions of dollars in AmeriCorps grant funding in about two dozen states.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, as part of a multistate coalition, helped to secure the preliminary injunction.
