The stock market climbed back to bull market territory this week as investors shrugged off the initial effects of the global trade war, with economic data showing that the job market has largely held up.
The S&P 500 index closed Friday up about 1.6 percent for the week. The index slumped in early April during the hectic rollout of the Trump administration’s controversial tariff policies, but it has increased more than 20 percent since its April 8 low point, meeting the technical definition of a bull market.
Analysts said reaching the bull market threshold is a symbolic milestone showing that many investors appear to have come to terms with the recent uncertainty.
