The National Weather Service office in San Diego reported light rain along the coast on Friday morning but promised clear skies and warm temperatures elsewhere in the region.

“Light precipitation has been reported in northwestern San Diego County this morning with patchy drizzle likely to continue through mid morning,” the agency said. “Otherwise a very June Gloom day along the coast and high temperatures near normal today.”

Highs on Friday are forecast to be 67 to 72 near the coast, 72 inland, 73 to 76 in the western valleys, 77 to 82 near the foothills, 78 to 88 in the mountains and 98 to 103 in the deserts.

The weather service said the marine layer will become more shallow this weekend into early next week. Heat will peak on Tuesday with gradual cooling through the end of the week.
