An Edinburgh teenager has relived the heart-breaking moment she saw her cat for the last time after it was run over and killed.

Sophia Andersen, 17, told Edinburgh Live how her mum received a call to say that their family pet, Lola, had been hit by a car and had sadly died. Sophia and her family went to see Lola, but she had suffered horrific injuries which has left the teen distraught.

Now she's calling for road users to be more cautious and to stop and try to notify the owners if they do hit and injure a cat while driving so that pet owners can get the closure they need.

She said: "I don't even know how to explain it because I'm in a situation where my brain can't even comprehend why it had to happen.
