JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Jim Hill High School's choir director, James Hawkins, has died. The Jackson Public School District (JPS) announced his passing on Thursday.

Mr. Hawkins was a renowned music educator whose passion, talent, and leadership inspired generations of scholars. Under his direction, the Jim Hill choir earned national and international acclaim, winning competitions around the world.

Many of his former scholars went on to pursue successful careers in music and other professional fields, a testament to the powerful influence he had on their lives.
