An updated weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 9:47 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 10:15 p.m. for Berkshire County.

Expect penny-sized hail (0.75 inches) and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

"At 9:47 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Hancock, or 8 miles northwest of Pittsfield, moving northeast at 15 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible."

Locations impacted by the alert include Stephentown, Lanesborough, Garfield, Farnams, Wyomanock, Stephentown Center, North Stephentown, Sweets Corner, New Ashford, North Hancock, Hancock, Cheshire, South Williamstown, Steeles Corners and Williamstown.
