MT. PLEASANT, Iowa (KWQC) - Small farmers often juggle full-time jobs and farm work just to keep the lights on.
There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into bringing fresh produce to your table.
For Morgan Hoenig, owner and operator of Mogo Farms, bringing that crispy and fresh lettuce can be a lot of hard work.
“I wake up at 4 a.m., and I didn’t set an alarm. I think it’s just that your brain wakes you up — you know you have so much work to do,” said Hoenig.
She often works while everyone else sleeps, then heads to her full-time job. Once she is back, she continues: “hoe and pull weeds, and plant and water,” said Hoenig.
