At this point, 25 years ago, the Yankees were still grinding along through a so-so stretch in the first half of the season. They had only managed sub-.500 ball during the month of May, and had alternated wins and losses through four games to begin June. This included their most recent, a series opener they dropped upon arriving in Montreal for a three-game set with the Expos. The second game, however, would yield much better results. With some lively bats in the lineup and a solid job from their spot starter, the Yankees grabbed an easy one here.
