MARION, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Supreme Court has dismissed claims from a former custodian who alleged sexual harassment and retaliation at the Marion Police Department under former Chief Joseph McHale.
In the lawsuit, filed in 2019, Valerie Rheeder claimed Deputy Chief Doug Slagle sexually harassed her and that the city did not do enough after she complained about it. She also claimed she was intimidated because she was told not to communicate with Slagle - a message she believed should have only gone to Slagle.
Rheeder also also claimed Shellene Gray, an administrative manager, confronter her and “”threatened her if she spoke about it again she would “get her.’”
