CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — The body of the missing teen whose boat was found circling without a driver was recovered on Friday, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Authorities found 17-year-old Jackson Cole Croft's body after 24 hours of searching the lake.

According to the DNR's Public Affairs Officer Mark McKinnon, they located his body on sonar around 3:38 p.m. and sent a remotely operated vessel to confirm their discovery. McKinnon said crews found Croft's body in 22 feet of water just a few hundred feet from where Croft's boat was found.

McKinnon added that there were no details about how Croft ended up in the water, but they are attempting to look at GPS data to further their investigation. McKinnon added that the area where Croft's boat was found had var
