LEAF RIVER, Ill. (WREX) — A popular local tradition for the kickoff to summer will be taking over the village of Leaf River this weekend.

Leaf River Summer Daze is bringing a whole weekend of fun for all ages to the Ogle County community starting Friday afternoon through Sunday (June 6-8).

There will be something for everybody with all kinds of events from parades to tractor pulls and car shows to fireworks displays.

Friday will feature the main events in the evening at the River Valley Complex and Bertolet Library, including dedicating Leaf River Fire Chief Steve Shelton as Citizen of the Year at 7 p.m. and fireworks starting at 8 p.m.
