Jill Sobule , the folk-pop singer and activist best known for the 1995 hit “I Kissed a Girl” may have died in a house fire on May 1, but she hasn’t been forgotten.
Just over a month after her tragic death at 66, Sobule is being remembered with two new releases on Friday, June 6. The albums were scheduled for release prior to Sobule’s death, but now serves as a tribute to the beloved singer.
First, the Original Cast Recording of her autobiographical musical memoir F*ck 7th Grade is being released on her Pinko Records label. The musical was first performed at a Pittsburgh drive-in during the pandemic before moving on to an acclaimed three-year stint off Broadway at The Wild Project.
