MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A man assaulted a 7-Eleven employee while armed after being told the soda at the store was not free on Wednesday, police said.

The man entered the store at the 11500 block of Rockville Pike in Gaithersburg around 7:30 p.m. and started filling up a cup to drink from the soda fountain. An employee told the man that the soda was not free when the man hit the employee, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCDP).

The man began throwing items from nearby shelves at employees before leaving the store, said MCDP.
