Actor Jon Hamm’s new series, “Your Friends and Neighbors” (Apple TV+) is about his groove, perfected through decades since his breakthrough role as Don Draper in the “Mad Men” series set in the predatory male world of mid-20th century advertising.

Hamm has seemed to reprise that lead character and polish him — to a default role as the cool and unflappable American executive cynic we watch while most of us in his shoes would flap like a sheet on a clothesline in the wind.
