DES MOINES, Iowa -- (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) -- Every person who runs for political office has something that makes the individual unique. But the campaign launches of two new candidates for governor of Iowa in the 2026 election were different than many others.

Julie Stauch, a Democrat from West Des Moines, is trying to make the transition from longtime campaign staffer to candidate for governor. Politics has not been the entirety of her career as she has also been a small business owner and consultant to numerous entities and organizations that prioritize health, education, water quality, and the National Football League’s annual Super Bowl.
