MONTPELIER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Vermont's Department of Environmental conservation has issued an air quality alert for northwestern Vermont due to wildfire smoke pollution.

The Air Quality was anticipated to be code yellow, moderate, early today but is expected to become code orange, also known as "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups". This is due to recent Canadian wildfire smoke, which is also expected to elevate concentrations of fine particles, according to DEC.

Those in Chittenden, Grand Isle and Franklin Counties who have asthma, heart or lung diseases should proceed with caution and keep an eye out for symptoms. Children, teens, pregnant individuals and more may also experience syptoms.
