Renowned New Orleans drag comedian Bianca Del Rio will ride atop a custom-made alligator float in the WorldPride parade in Washington Saturday, leading a delegation promoting New Orleans as a welcoming destination for LGBTQ tourism.
Del Rio will be accompanied by an entourage of roughly 50 fellow float riders and marchers from the Crescent City’s LGBTQ hospitality industry and cultural community.
Founded in 2000, the WorldPride parade is an annual event that celebrates the history of the gay rights movement. The procession is held in a different host city each year.
New Orleans’ participation in the parade is sponsored by to New Orleans and Company , a business booster organization.
